In 2013, a study to evaluate if endocannabinoid system (ECS) is involved in the protective actions of minocycline after a TBI. Using a closed-head trauma mice model of 60 animals and 49 of them sustained TBI.

Background: Examined the involvement of CB1R and CB2R in the effects of minocycline on edema and neurological impairment.  Data were analyzed using a 3-way analysis of variance, with factors being TBI, cannabinoid receptor antagonists, and minocycline treatment.
